Gandalf Stormcrow- 11-22-2006
Hail and Well Met!,

I go by the name of Gandalf.. not only because I am an avid fan of the "Lord of the Rings" series by JRR Tolkien, but also because, like the wizard, I am always seeking answers and truths.

I understand that many things surrounding the concept of "Reality" are not understandable, and while some, like the esteemed Adrian (with whom I have been debating recently), choose to accept that these things are unknown and leave them at that, without explanation.. I choose to believe in the presence of a "creative force" that is responsible for our presence.

However, my concept of this Being is not the same as most tend to think of it. I don't believe in an Absolute Good or an Absolute Evil. I don't believe that this Being is subject to desires or wants or needs. It is the Law from which all other Laws proceed. It has no reason, no explanation... It simply is. Many times I will bring these concepts into my arguments, but only when it is applicable.

I do not try to debate points of contention by the presence of a "Higher Power". Wherever possible, I bring only solid, precise fact into the debate. When the debate delves into the concepts of why we believe we are here, as in "What caused us to be here", I will bring up my concept of this "Creative Force", because that is what I believe in. Whether you agree with me or not is irrelevant. My beliefs do not require for you to believe what I believe. You are free to believe what you wish, and I will never contend with you on your right to do so.

For those that want a better glimpse into what I would call "Truth", read The Kybalion.

As for me personally, I am very calm, and very patient, but I am in no means perfect. I will not come here throwing around my arguments while proclaiming that "I am right!" I am here to learn, as much as I am to teach. By sharing thoughts and opinions, we do ourselves a collective good by increasing our own perceptions and pushing the limitations of our minds. In so doing, we all gain.

That said, I look forward to getting into some good discussions here. While some may be frustrated with my concept of a "God" (for want of a better word), bear in mind that I won't hide behind that concept to protect me in a debate. I will only bring it up where I feel it is truly pertinent.

My thanks to Eadwine for the invitation to join, and to the members for taking the time to read this post. See you on the forums!
