Apparently, the "censor everything to protect our children" folks are at it again. There's a new children's book out, and the word "scrotum" appears on the first page of it. I bet you have heard of it and now lots are in an uproar over it, with librarians banning it all over the USA. What is your take on this kind of censorship?

oh no! flourisse/scared.gif someone said "scrotum".

i think book banning is ridiculous. and in this instance, over an anatomically correct term. what would they rather have children call them?: bags, nuts, sacks? or is the idea to just not have attention called to it all? i don't know what these people are thinking or what their criteria is. i think this is just an extension of the overly pc world at large.

i say people call things whatever they call them (or say whatever they have to say, or write about whatever they write about) and people feel however they feel about whatever others are saying and/or writing about and GET OVER themselves.
whatever happened to just not preferring, liking, buying or borrowing a book that you didn't like or wasn't impressed by?

I won't even discuss the decision to censor the book... that's useless... but I'm really interested what kind of book for children is the one that has the word "scrotum" on the first page, I don't remember any of my books as a child to need that word on the first page... but hey I might be wrong...

On the other hand... not that I think about it, "Dick and Jane" should be censored too.
