I just managed to put up my first item on there, for sale. For those curious: 270069439006. A simple Christmas CD, start small and all.

I immediately bumped into the first hickup: international sale. It's a no go if you don't have a credit card. What the ...?

The better part of the Dutch don't have this card, and the majority of those don't even WANT one. I am one of those.

Then the next thing: automatic payment through PayPal of those ebay fees. Guess where I end up on the PayPal page? Right... the credit card one. flourisse/thumbsdown.gif

I wrote to PayPal Netherlands and told them this and how on earth do I verify my account then, huh? Geez.. pisses me off alright. They have my bank account number, all they have to do is ring or mail my bank! flourisse/tongue.gif Bah.

That's kind of weird because I've sold stuff on ebay and I don't have a credit card, I use Paypal, and I've sent stuff out of the country. Maybe it's different on your side?

Sure looks like it. Maybe next time I will try selling after being logged in on ebay.com instead of the Netherlands. That is allowed, just have to oblige by the fees of ebay.com (nl has certain things for free).

Wait and see what the paypal folks will reply.

I got sent back to ebay. Verify your account. So.. I did.

I have my address verified, and I ask them: can I sell internationally now??

The answer is no. Only when I have a verified PayPal account. TO verify I need an effing credit card. For crying out loud! rolleyes.gif mad.gif

No problem for sellers in the USA, they can sell internationally. If I had lived in the UK, no problem either, but because I live in this little wee wee country I have to get me a creditcard?

The help person hoped I could understand. I told him I most certainly do not, and that I am deeply disappointed.

Current development is that I am looking into a cheapo one. Ten Euros a year, a small limit. I don't need to pay with the thing, all I need is to HAVE one. Unbelievable.. bah! flourisse/tongue.gif

mad.gif grrr. apparently credit cards and policies involving them are annoying whether you have one or don't, want one or don't...

what a pain!

EadwineRose- 12-22-2006
Yeah, if I can help it I will NOT have a credit card. However, the one I am looking at costs me only 10 Euros a year in fees and such, and if I simply don't use it as such it won't cost anything more than that. Not that the interest rate isn't good (which it is) or that you can take out a high sum (which you can), it simply is a beginner card for those just starting.

I have HAD a visa card in the past, I just don't want one anymore because I know what they can do. But, if I have to in this case, there is no way around it. So.. get one, put it somewhere on a shelf to collect dust, pay 10 Euros in fees annually and that is it. That is the way I will have to go at it now. Those 10 I can earn back on Ebay I am sure.

hmm. i wonder would they accept a pre-paid card?...
i hadn't thought about that earlier.
i've bought those for use with online shopping before.

We don't have prepaid cards. Those are just debit cards, which is what we have for regular bank accounts like mine.

And no, those are not accepted. sad.gif
