Wasn't that set up so there'd be some basic rules that needed to be kept? Shouldn't the government at least stick to it then?

What is the Constitution still worth, when freedoms that are described in it are violated more than once by the current government?

Just… yeah…

Honestly the constitution is a work of art, it might not of been the first one ever but it is unique in today’s politics and likely unique in history too. It was the first that tried to outline limits on the government and highlighted that the government was there at the will of the people. For other nations, even republic nations, the people have not been put ‘above’ the government as the US constitution tried.

Just because a group forms that view themselves above all laws don’t take away from the constitution. It highlights a corruption that has festered within the US republic. People trying to operate outside of the constitution isn’t it’s fault, it is the fault of the people for letting the corrupt get away with so much.

The founders also had an answer for this. I think it was Jefferson who said: The tree of liberty had to occasionally be watered with the blood of patriots. Lots of people do not like to think on it but then they might have to seriously give it thought if things play out the way they are. What ends down this path is a form of corporate fascism and the rest of the world does not need to see that ugly authoritarian face once more.
