Of course it is in the news right now, little hard to deny. However, speaking in general over here: regardless of country or religion or person or anything, keeping that out of the equation, should the death penalty be allowed?

Are we even fit to judge on other peoples' lives?

I mean, as you can see in history, the death penalty has not always been given to those who are guilty, but oops, can't quite turn that sentence around now can we?

And if you are supportive of the death penalty, do you follow "eye for an eye" (so one murder is death penalty, period) or do you have another measure?

And then.. of course.. the death penalty itself. There are several options. Hanging, guillotine, injection, electrocution. Not thinking of the older ones where your guts were simply ripped out of your body while you were fully and consciously awake as it happened.

Is it humane? Or is it: the bastard got what he deserved, he should have method X.

Is it punishment enough? I mean.. the person's dead. That's it. In my opinion doing life is much worse.

I don't think it's needed, it's pretty barbaric and demeans the sanctity of life. What needs to be done is prevent people from killing other people, not kill them after they did it. Making it sound that's OK to kill people in some circumstances doesn't go well with preventing people from killing each others. As far as I know countries that gave up capital punishment didn't see an increase in murder rates, and many (most of) such countries have lower murder rates than US, so there are more important factors that come into play than what punishment is reserved for criminals.
