Something that appeared in the papers here. I will translate:

QUOTE
A hungry Belgian was quite amazed when he was at the McDrive in the Belgian village of Waterloo. In the paper bag with his order he found an envelope containing 15.000 euros.

"At first I doubted on whether or not to keep the money. Admit it, who wouldn't? But my parents taught me to always be honest", Marco Parra-Martinez (23) said Thursday to the paper Het Laatste Nieuws.

Marco has returned the envelope. The money was the revenue of several days that accidentally ended up between the orders. McDonalds has promised the customer a nice gift.

Of course the reward NEVER matches the found item's value, so upon return one can never assume one gets something huge.

One can see it as more tempting because McD is such a large company, however, if I am not mistaken the various stores are franchises; privately owned.

In any case.. would you have returned it? How much or how little is the limit to you to do so? Are you more likely to keep the amount when it were.. say.. 500 euros? Or are you more likely to keep it when it were a higher amount?

I'd return the money as long I know who lost it, it I'd just have to give it to the Police I think I'd prefer to keep it. If I know who lost it, it doesn't make difference if It's McDonald, a poor person or a millionaire -- it's their money.

I hear those stories all the time and all I can think is "wow". I would also return the money if I knew who it belonged to. If I just found a brown paper bag with $30,000 in it and no ID...who knows?
